How information is collected
- From you: when you sign in, save a recipe, submit a comment or rating, contact us, or set privacy choices.
- From your browser or device: through essential logs, cookies, local storage, and similar technology.
- From service providers: such as the identity provider used for sign-in, hosting and security providers, and future analytics or advertising providers you permit.
04
Why we use information
We use personal information to:
- deliver recipes, search, saved recipes, ratings, and moderated comments;
- authenticate accounts and protect the site from spam, abuse, and fraud;
- respond to questions, requests, and privacy inquiries;
- maintain and improve accessibility, reliability, and performance;
- understand audience interests when analytics permission is granted;

06
Advertising, Google AdSense, and Media.net
The current rebuild reserves clearly labeled spaces for future advertisements, but it does not yet load Google AdSense or Media.net advertising code. Advertising tags will remain inactive until the applicable publisher accounts, consent platform, regional settings, and vendor configuration are complete.
If Google AdSense or Media.net is activated, those providers and their approved advertising partners may process IP addresses, browser and device details, cookie or advertising identifiers, general location, page context, ad impressions, and interactions. These details may be used for ad delivery, measurement, frequency control, security, fraud prevention, and, when permitted, personalization.
For visitors in the EEA, United Kingdom, and Switzerland, personalized advertising will be connected to a Google-certified consent management platform that supports the IAB Europe Transparency and Consent Framework before those ads are enabled. Media.net participates in that framework as vendor 142. For applicable U.S. states, sale, sharing, and targeted-advertising choices will be transmitted using supported privacy signals. We also recognize Global Privacy Control.
Learn more from Google's explanation of data from partner sites, Google's advertising policy, and Media.net's Privacy Policy. You may also use the Media.net opt-out page.
Some U.S. laws may define targeted advertising disclosures as a “sale” or “sharing” even when no money is exchanged for personal information. Use “Privacy and cookie settings” in the site footer, Global Privacy Control, or the applicable provider control to opt out where those rights apply.
08
Retention
We keep information only as long as reasonably necessary for the stated purpose:
- saved recipes remain until you remove them or the related account data is deleted;
- comments and ratings remain while published or needed for moderation and recordkeeping;
- contact messages are kept while needed to respond and are ordinarily archived or deleted within 24 months;
- security and technical logs are generally retained for no longer than 12 months unless an incident requires longer preservation;
- privacy request records may be kept for up to 24 months to document compliance; and
- consent choices remain on your device until you change them or clear browser storage.
Information may be retained longer when required by law, necessary for a legal claim, or preserved in a limited backup cycle.
09
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live and whether a particular law applies, you may have the right to know or access personal information, correct it, delete it, obtain a portable copy, restrict or object to processing, opt out of targeted advertising or certain disclosures, limit certain sensitive-data uses, withdraw consent, and receive equal service without discrimination for exercising a right.
You may use an authorized agent where permitted. We may need information reasonably necessary to verify a request. If we deny a request, you may reply with “Privacy Appeal” and explain why you believe the decision should be reconsidered. You may also contact the regulator or attorney general in your place of residence.
We do not offer a financial incentive for personal information. We do not knowingly sell or share personal information of anyone under 16 for targeted advertising.
