If you don't have buttermilk, don't fret! The homemade substitute works wonders. How to make buttermilk from whole milk

Get a glass measuring cup.

Add 1 tablespoon of vinegar or lemon juice.

Add milk to the one-cup mark. It will curdle.

There’s your 1 cup of buttermilk

Layering the Flavors**: Pour half of the batter into greased loaf pans. Then, sprinkle half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture over it.

Add the remaining batter, and sprinkle the leftover cinnamon-sugar on top.

  • Swirl it Up**: Here's where the fun begins! Take a knife and swirl the cinnamon-sugar mixture through the batter. Each slice will have its unique, delightful pattern

  • Next melt a couple of tablespoons of butter and pour evenly over the batter. This extra touch keeps the cinnamon bread moist and it gives it an even more delicious buttery flavor.
  • Bake to Perfection**: Bake at 350°F for 45-50 minutes. Let it cool before slicing. The aroma itself is heavenly!

Cooking Tips for making the perfect loaf!

-Make sure your butter is softened, not melted. This will ensure a fluffy and light texture to your bread.

- Don't overmix your batter. It can make your bread tough. Just mix until the ingredients are combined.

- Swirl the cinnamon mixture into the batter with a knife to ensure it's evenly distributed throughout the bread.

-Be sure to add the extra melted butter to the top batter before baking. Keeps the loaf extra moist and gives it a delicious buttery flavor.

-Highly recommend using Parchment paper to line your loaf pan. Takes away all the worry of the bread sticking to the pan. All you have to do is lift it out of the pan! So so easy!

-Halfway through the baking process, check on the bread if it’s browning too much, cover loosely with aluminum foil.

Can you freeze Amish Cinnamon Bread?

Absolutely! Wrap the loaf in plastic wrap then with aluminum foil and place it in a freezer ziplock bag. It will freeze well for up to two months. Thaw and heat in the microwave or oven.

Now, for the best part - serving this delightful bread. It's perfect as is, but here are some fun serving

Enjoy Amish Cinnamon bread for breakfast with a pat of butter. It’s so delicious with coffee or a cup of hot tea. And if you're feeling a bit indulgent, try it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for dessert!

French Toast Twist**: Use thick slices for an indulgent French toast breakfast.

This bread also makes a thoughtful homemade gift. Wrap it in a pretty kitchen towel or place it in a nice box, and you've got a delicious present for a friend or neighbor.

So, there you have it, my dear food lovers - a simple, comforting, and utterly delicious Amish Cinnamon Bread. I hope you enjoy making it as much as I do. Remember, the secret to great cooking is to cook with love and serve with joy. Until next time, happy baking!

Enjoy!

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. For the best results, line a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper. All you have to do is lift the bread right out of the pan. If you don’t have parchment paper, grease and flour the loaf pan very well to prevent the bread from sticking.
  2. Cream together ½ cup butter (1 stick) and sugar together. Add the egg and beat until light and fluffy. Mix the flour, salt and baking soda together and to egg mixture alternately with the buttermilk. Add vanilla extract and beat until blended.
  3. Spoon half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix ½ cup of sugar and two 2 ½ teaspoons of cinnamon. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon mixture on top of the batter.
  5. Add the remaining batter to the pan and sprinkle the rest of the cinnamon topping. Note: I saved 1 teaspoon of the remaining cinnamon/sugar mixture to sprinkle on top of the bread when it came out of the oven. It added an extra touch and made the top nice and crispy.
  6. Swirl the batter with a knife.
  7. Melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and pour evenly over the batter. This makes the bread extra moist and gives it an even more delicious buttery tasting flavor.
  8. Bake at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes, or until a tester comes out clean. Cool in the pan for 20 minutes before removing. Note: Half way through baking, you may need to cover the top loosely with aluminum foil to prevent too much browning.
  9. Cool in the pan for about 20 minutes before removing. Enjoy! Your house will smell like heaven!!
